The Paper Poinsettia Live Demo

Missed the live demonstration? Enroll to watch the recording (originally filmed in December, 2021)

The Paper Poinsettia live demonstration is in celebration of 'National Poinsettia Day' celebrated on December 12. The tribute is in memory Joel Roberts Poinsett who is attributed to bringing the Poinsettia to the United States in 1825.

In this special zoom class, I will be demonstrating the creation of a stem of the Poinsettia plant crafted from crepe papers. Through the study of a living specimen, I have created my take on this plant by introducing some natural elements that will lend an organic feel to the completed paper stem.

I'll cover everything from treating the paper to give your plant a more realistic feel, creating the cyathiums (the little buds at the center of the plant) to the coloured bracts and foliage. Then we'll bring it all together by assembling the work into a final stem, that with some additional treatments, will have anyone fooled that your Poinsettia is made from paper!

This plant can be created from 180gm paper from CarteFini or 90gm doublette, your choice, and I will be working with both paper types to show the different results they yield.

By participating in this zoom demonstration you will receive:

  • A materials and resources list
  • All the printable templates for the Poinsettia plant
  • Note: All of the above will be provided through the Teachable platform to which you will have access to once enrolled
  • A replay of the live class will be posted for a limited time on Teachable for viewing at your leisure.

This demonstration will run for roughly 2 hours. Please note that this is a demonstration only. You are welcome to make alongside my instruction, but please come prepared to take notes during the class.
